In April 2025 Lead Machine Tools installed a large SP2240 Double Column Machining Center in Johannesburg. The machine features with 2.5m x 4m Travels, 6000rpm BT50 head with CTS and was installed complete with Renishaw probing and Fanuc control.

Our first Zopo Y-Axis Turning Center has arrived at the brand new home of Lead Machine Tools in Epping Cape Town. The SHL-60BY came complete with Fanuc Control.

We are very excited about this new line of Turning Centers from Zopo and think they will do very well in South Africa!

Lead Machine Tools recently launched its brand new head office in Epping, Cape Town. The new 1000m² premises includes offices, a large showroom and storage space for our stock holding, a state-of-the-art Metrology Department, and a Spindle Refurbishment Room (Clean Room).

Lead Machine Tools recently installed a second Micro Dynamics Tera 50V at the one of the leading Aerospace suppliers in Cape Town. The Tera 50V was Installed with a 15000rpm 31kW Built-in Spindle (141Nm Torque), 40 ATC Tool Magazine, CTS, ATS20 Bar, Micro Dynamics HMI and Cross Roller Linear Guide Ways.

The Tera 50V also boasts the following specs: 52/52/48m/min (X/Y/Z) Rapids, a 20m/min Cutting Feedrate, X/Y/Z Axis Travels of 1270/710/635mm, Positioning Accuracy / Full Stroke of 0.005mm and Repeatability Accuracy of 0.0025mm.

In August 2024 Lead Machine Tools engineers completed the installation of a SED855 Vertical Machining Center in Durban. The machine features a 12000rpm Direct Drive Spindle and was installed complete with a Mitsubishi M80 CNC Control. The SED855 model was designed for high efficiency operation and also features 12000mm/min rapids, a 500x1000mm Worktable (600kg Load Bearing) and a Positioning Accuracy of 0.008mm.
